The Blaine girls’ tennis team snapped a four-match losing skid with a 5-2 Northwest Conference win over Lynden on Friday, May 1, at Blaine.
The Borderites swept the doubles matches, and coach John Freal said his No. 1 doubles team of Mandy Hayes and Emily Roe played their best match of the season, beating Lynden’s Emily Brown and Tara Gartner 6-0, 6-1.
“They were really moving forward with their shots and being aggressive at the net, so they got a lot of easy points,” Freal said in a phone interview.
Blaine (2-11, 2-5 NWC) faces Sehome next at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, while Lynden ended its regular season with the loss.
