Mariners girls’ tennis cruises past Lions

Sehome girls’ tennis only dropped two games during a 7-0 Northwest Conference win over Lynden on Thursday, April 30, at Sehome High School.

Singles players Andrea Clawson, Ali Morrow and Beth Clawson earned 6-0, 6-0 wins, and doubles teams Simone Hall and Taylor Harris and Natalie Knops and Andrea Zucchi got 6-0, 6-0 wins.

“We played well,” Mariners coach Bonna Giller said in a phone interview. “The girls had fun. Our kids went out and played, and they took care of business.

Although the Lions were outmatched, Giller praised how hard Lynden played in what was the team’s annual breast cancer awareness pink match.

Sehome (12-0, 6-0 NWC) plays Sedro-Woolley next at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, while Lynden (3-12, 0-7 NWC) faces Blaine in its season finale at the same time and date.
