Weekly Planner

This week’s top high school sporting events:

Burlington-Edison at Lynden soccer

4 p.m.

Tuesday, April 28

The leading scorer in the conference, Nicolas Parris (above), goes against a very stingy Tigers defense. The Lions have had their up and downs this season, but a win over Burlington-Edison would come as a surprise to very few people around the league.

Burlington-Edison at Bellingham baseball

6 p.m.

Tuesday, April 28

Two of the top teams in the Northwest Conference square off in a late evening contest at Joe Martin Field. The Red Raiders have one of the bright young talents in Whatcom County in Austin Shenton (above), who should play a big role against the Tigers.

Sehome at Bellingham girls’ tennis

3:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 29

In a match that will decide the Northwest Conference champ and likely an undefeated league season, the Red Raiders and Mariners meet. The two storied tennis programs are always near the top, and players like Sehome’s Andrea Clawson (above) are why.

Ferndale at Mount Baker softball

4:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 30

Last year’s Northwest Conference champion meets last season’s Class 1A runner-up for the first time this season in a 3A-1A contest. Emily Yost (above) and Aleks Toivola will have to be at their best against a more than competent Golden Eagles squad.

Burlington-Edison at Lynden softball

4 p.m.

Friday, May 1

The Lions are currently perched atop the Northwest Conference with an unblemished record thanks to the likes of players such as Hannah Rothwell (above) and Tanna Benson, but the Tigers are no short on talent and eager to knock them off.
