Blaine’s girls’ tennis team won both No. 1 matches in the singles and doubles, but finished the match in a 4-3 loss to Anacortes on Wednesday, April 22, at Anacortes High School.
Saskia Dolk defeated Taylor Phillips 6-1, 6-4 to lead the singles matches for the Borderites. The No. 1 doubles consisting of Mandy Hayes and Emily Roe defeated Hope Hurtado and Emma Riedel.
“Our first doubles played pretty well,” Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview.
Breanna Chau and Kjirsten Larson defeated their opponent 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 in a close match.
“I think they had a hiccup in the middle set,” Freal said. “They came back and played pretty well.”
Blaine will play Burlington-Edison next at 3:45 p.m. Friday, April 24, on the road.
