Squalicum’s Byron impresses in loss to Sehome

Squalicum’s girls’ tennis team was defeated by Sehome 7-0 on Monday, April 20, at Squalicum High School.

Sehome’s Lauren Smith defeated Sarah Byron 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match. Taylor Harris and Andrea Zucchi defeated the Storm’s Alli Hart and Lucy Cornwell 6-1, 6-0.

“I was impressed with Sarah (Byron)’s No. 1 singles match,” Squalicum coach Joe O’Brien said in a phone interview. “She had some good approach shots and hit the ball well on her.”

O’Brien also highlighted Amanda Wells and Aly Langer for playing a solid match in their first varsity doubles match.

Squalicum travels to Burlington-Edison next at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. Sehome will play Lynden next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Lynden YMCA.
