Stephanie Johnston defeated her opponent in the No. 4 singles match as Lynden’s girls’ tennis team lost to Burlington-Edison 6-1 on Monday, April 20, at the Lynden YMCA.
“Stephanie played timid in the first set. We had a talk in between sets. I wanted to move her opponent around more,” Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. “It started working and she gained confidence. I was really proud of Stephanie, she handled herself well on the court today.”
Alex Schulhauser and Kelsey Hewson were defeated by their opponent 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 doubles match.
Lynden will play Bellingham next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, on the road.
