Ellie Iwersen defeated her opponent 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match to lead Bellingham’s girls’ tennis team’s 6-1 victory over Anacortes on Monday, April 20, at Bellingham High School.
“I thought Ellie (Iwersen) played an excellent match,” Bellingham coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview. “She patiently kept attacking and thought her way through the match very well.”
Mariah Miller won her match 6-4, 6-0 for the Red Raiders. Making good adjustments throughout the match, Chronister said.
Alice Heibert and Sophia Lawrence won their match 6-1, 6-0 to lead the Bellingham doubles in the No. 1 match.
Bellingham will host Lynden next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22.
