Corbin earns win for Lynden girls’ tennis

Emily Corbin earned a win for Lynden’s girls’ tennis team as it suffered a 6-1 loss to Anacortes on Friday, April 17, at Anacortes.

Corbin fought for a 6-4 win in the first set, before sweeping the second set 6-0.

Tough luck losers for the Lions included Kellie Fiebig and Morgan Braithwaite (7-5, 6-3) and Ketta VandenBos and Mikaela Humphreys (6-4, 5-7, 7-5).

“I was proud of how Emily played her match, it was really close with the long first set and then she took it in the second set,” Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. “Morgan just got back from Europe and played well in doubles with Kellie even though they hadn’t played together in quite awhile.”

Lynden plays again at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, at the Lynden YMCA.
