Meridian won all but two events as its boys’ track and field team rolled to a 129-14 win over Lynden Christian on Thursday, April 16, at Lynden Christian.
Had it not been for Brooks DeWaard’s win in the 3,200 (11 minutes, 14.65 seconds), and Levi Nieuwsma’s win in the javelin (141 feet, 6 inches), Meridian would have swept the meet.
Nick Miller won a pair of individual track events with an 11.45 in the 100 and a 53.52 in the 400. Miller already held the top 100 time in the Northwest Conference entering Thursday’s meets with an 11.24. Camden Burgess also won a pair of field events, taking the long jump with an 18-08.75 and the triple jump with a 40-04.00.
Lynden Christian participates in the King’s Invitational on Saturday, April 18, at King’s in Shoreline, and Meridian will be at the Eason Invitational the same day at Snohomish High School.
