Clark wins in three sets to lead Ferndale’s 5-2 victory

Ferndale’s girls’ tennis team swept the three doubles matches against Sedro-Woolley in its 5-2 win on Wednesday, April 15, at Ferndale High School.

Shelby Slaughter and Carly Bannerman won the No. 1 doubles match 6-1, 6-6 (10-8), after the tiebreaker set for the Golden Eagles.

Ferndale’s Holley Clark won her match in three sets with a score of 6-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-4. It was the standout match of the day, Ferndale coach Ed Sweitzer said in a phone interview.

“A lot of the rust was taken off yesterday against Sehome,” Sweitzer said. “They came out and played much better today. A lot more sharpness and I think the girls are back into it now.”

Ferndale will take on Squalicum next at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at home.
