Janessa Murphy won four events to lead Meridian’s girls’ track and field team to a team title at the Cashmere Invitational on Saturday, April 11, at Cashmere High School.
Murphy ran a winning time of 1:00.62 seconds in the 400, ran the anchor leg of the Trojans’ winning 4x100 relay team (52.08) and the 4x200 relay team (1:50.07), as well as throwing a winning mark of 16-09 inches in the long jump.
Nick Miller won three events, leading Meridian’s boys’ track and field team to a third place team finish in the meet.
Miller won the 100 (11.34), 400 (51.35) and ran the third leg of the Trojans’ first place 4x100 relay team with a time of 45.18.

“It was a good meet,” Meridian coach Patrick Ames said in a phone interview, “some good competition with schools we don’t get to see very often.”
Meridian will compete at Lynden Christian next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16.
