Lynden’s girls’ tennis team pulled off a 5-2 win after Bridget Johnson was able to grind out a three-set win over Blaine’s Saskia Dolk to clinch the matchup on Thursday, April 2, at the Lynden YMCA.
Johnson won the first set 7-6 (3), but Dolk came back to take the second set 6-2. The final set was tied 4-4, but Johnson was able to hold off Dolk to take the final two games, Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview.
“I couldn’t be more proud,” Ballard said. “Saskia is one heck of a player and Bridget knew it.”
Blaine got a win from Breanna Chau and Kjirstin Larson in doubles play, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
