Kim Hazlett and Lauren Kurtz each won two events to lead Squalicum to a pair of duals wins over Blaine and Sedro-Woolley in a girls’ track meet on Wednesday, March 25, at Blaine.
Squalicum won 71-59 over Blaine and 94-55 over Sedro-Woolley. Blaine beat Sedro-Woolley 97-59.
Hazlett ran a 13.01-second 100 and a 1:01.90 in the 400 for her pair of wins. Kurtz won the long jump with a 15-foot, 5-inch jump and the triple jump with a 31-08.75.
Blaine was led by double winner Elle Moore. She won the discus with a 101-00 and an 87-02 for the win in the javelin. Moore drew Blaine coach Carey Bacon’s praise for her good day overall.
Kirsten Webber won the pole vault with a 12-07, which Bacon said was especially tough in the rainy weather.
Hillary Kiele was a winner in the 800 with a 2:27.00 for Blaine, and she helped the 4x200 and 4x400 teams to wins.
Blaine and Squalicum will both participate in the Bedlington Twilight at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Lynden.
