Grant Scarlett placed first in the long jump and the triple jump to lead Lynden’s boys’ track and field team, which won eight events Wednesday, March 25, at Lynden Christian High School.
Scarlett had a mark of 19 feet, 5.25 inches in the long jump and 38-07.00 in the triple jump. Bryce Sterk placed first in the shot put with a mark of 46-05 and ran the second leg of the Lions’ first place 4x400 relay team that ran a time of 3:41.61.
Bellingham won seven of the 10 running events in the meet. Led by Benjamin Doucette and Nicholas Leishman who both won two events.
Doucette ran a time of 23.25 in the 200 and 15.15 in the 110 hurdles. Leishman ran a time of 2:16.29 in the 800 and a 11:58.21 in the 3200.
Brooks DeWaard and Levi Nieuwsma won the two events for Lynden Christian. DeWaard ran a time of 5:30.68 in the 1600 and Nieuwsma threw a mark of 134-10 in the javelin.
Lynden will host the Bedlington Twilight Invitational at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 27. Bellingham and Lynden Christian will also be competing in the Bedlington Invitational Friday.
