Sadie Steele shot a 97 to lead Bellingham’s girls’ golf team to a fourth-place finish on Tuesday, March 26, at the Whidbey Country Club.
Bellingham shot a 522 as a team. Sehome took 12th with a 686, led by Hannah Peterson’s 111.
“This was the first time we had everyone play 18 and it was nice to get it in early,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. “It showed we need more experience playing 18, but we got a best score from Sadie on a pretty tough course. The greens were rolling pretty fast, which we weren’t used to. We played a match last night, so with the short turnaround, there was a bit of fatigue.”
McKay was also happy to take a top-five spot in a tournament of mostly 3A and 4A teams.
