Bellingham girls’ tennis rolls past Sedro-Woolley

All six of Bellingham’s wins were two-set victories, as the Red Raiders’ girls’ tennis team earned a 6-1 non-conference win over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, March 24, at Bellingham High School.

“I like how we played today,” Bellingham coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview. “I think this is the best we have looked.”

The Red Raiders, led by the top doubles team of Alice Hiebert and Sophia Lawrence, swept Sedro-Woolley, and Bellingham won all but one singles match.

Hiebert and Lawrence beat Sedro-Woolley’s Amy Schols and Emily Van Liew 6-1, 6-1. Chronister highlighted the pair, saying they recorded a score he didn’t expect.

Bellingham travels to play Lynden next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Lynden YMCA.
