Outlook: Three years in a row the Bellingham girls’ track and field team has finished as one of the top four best teams in the state’s 2A classification. With another talented roster, the Red Raiders again should be a main player in 2A, but beyond the talented roster, coach Bill McClement and the coaching staff has been most impressed with how receptive their athletes have been. “The girls have had a lot of success, especially with (sprints) coach Dena Birade,” McClement said in a phone interview. “This entire group, both teams, are comprised of kids who are really receptive and eager to learn.” Most notable returners include Mia Hodges and Annie Waddell, who helped the team win a state title in the 4x100 last year. Hannah Bradley and seniors Emma Brice and Hattie North also return from Bellingham’s state relays. The Red Raiders also have strong hurdlers and nice depth in the middle-distance races.
