Coach: Curt Kramme
Last year: Qualified one golfer to the Class 2A State Tournament, who finished 12th individually.
Players to watch: Jade Ming (fr.), Alexis Varner (fr.), Maddie Kramme (jr.), Tori Crabtree (fr.)
Outlook: Youthful is really the only way to describe Lynden’s team this season. The Lions are also short on bodies, as four players came out for the team — three are freshman and the lone junior will be in her first year of competitive golf. Freshmen Alexis Varner and Tori Crabtree and junior Maddie Kramme are among the first-time golfers being directed by Lynden football coach Curt Kramme. “A lot of it’s just trying to challenge athletes to get better,” Kramme said in a phone interview. “Not everybody is going to be a state champion. In golf, it’s really easy to see if you’re improving. I challenge them to try to get better each and every day.” The lone golfer with experience for the Lions is Jade Ming, the younger sister of Lynden’s lone state participant from last season, Emily Ming. “We just expect her to go out there and give it her best effort,” Kramme said. “There’s not pressure on her. She’s just a freshman. It’s just a different environment than summertime golf.” Ming brings plenty of talent with her, though, and could be a bright spot for Lynden.
