Miller, Magnusson each win 3 events for Meridian

Meridian’s Nick Miller and Collin Magnusson each won three events to lead the Meridian boys’ track and field team to a 97-39 win against Nooksack Valley on Thursday, March 19, at Meridian High School.

Miller ran winning times of 11.54 seconds in the 100, a 23.32 in the 200 and a 52.66 in the 400.

Magnusson won the 800 (2:06.51), the 1600 (4:49.52) and the 3200 (10:26.97).

“It was a strong early season performance for Nick. Great early season times. Our seniors had a strong meet for the first meet of the season,” Meridian coach Patrick Ames said in a phone interview.

Nooksack Valley’s Colton Kautz won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, nine inches. Aaron Bosscher won the high jump with a five-feet, eight-inch performance.

Meridian’s next meet is on Wednesday, March 25, at Mount Baker. Nooksack Valley travels to Seattle Academy next on Saturday, March 21.
