Red Raiders prepare for season with win

Bellingham won a preseason girls’ golf meet against Squalicum, Ferndale and Mount Vernon with a score of 133.

The meet was held with golfers competing in teams of two playing three holes of best ball and three balls of scramble. Sehome and Sedro-Woolley also participated, but didn’t have enough golfers to register a team score.

The Red Raiders’ Alex Ferrier and Emme McNabb shot a 42 to take the medalist position.

“I was really happy that all six of them made a contribution today,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. “They all got a little experience.”

Sehome was led by Hannah Peterson and Ina Labrandeur, who shot a 47. Squalicum was second with a 147 team score and Ferndale was third with a 149.

The girls’ golf season kicks off at 3 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Raspberry Ridge Golf Course with Bellingham and Sehome among the teams competing.
