Ferndale golfers fill in well for injured stars

Ferndale’s boys’ golf team took second with a team score of 477 on Tuesday, March 17, at Grandview Golf Course. Sedro-Woolley won the match with a 462 and Anacortes was third with a 502.

Colton Paxdahl form Sedro-Woolley was the medalist with a 79.

Daniel Erickson led the Golden Eagles with an 84, and Keenan Souve was second for the team with an 85. Devon Bennett took third for the team with a 90, and was followed by Andy Erickson (108) and Jacob Hindes (110).

“It was the first match, so there were a lot of nervous kids out there,” Ferndale coach Joel Wark said in a phone interview. “All the teams struggled a bit with their short games, not putting well today. We were missing two top players who are coming back from injury. I thought Devon did a real nice job even though he has had limited varsity experience.”

Ferndale is back in action on Thursday, March 19, at Skagit Golf and Country Club.
