Class 1A Bi-District Tournament girls’ basketball championship

7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20

at Mountlake Terrace

The No. 1-ranked Lyncs and Makayla Lancaster hope to compete for a bi-district championship at Mountlake Terrace High School. Getting to the title game would send Lynden Christian to the Class 1A State Tournament.

Class 2A District Tournament boys’ basketball championship

8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20

at Mount Vernon

Squalicum, Sehome and Lynden all hope to be playing for a district tournament title, but Northwest Conference champion Lynden and Sterling Somers are the favorites as the tournament’s No. 1 seed.

Class 2A District Tournament girls’ basketball championship

8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21

at Mount Vernon

Blaine, Sehome and Lynden entered Saturday with a shot to bring home a district title, but Mariah Gonzalez and the Lions are Whatcom County’s top seed. The winner of Saturday’s Blaine-Lynden game is one win shy of playing for a district title.

Last season Blaine offered Whatcom County one of the best stories of the year, winning a state wrestling championship. Bellingham’s Sergio Torres is one of many county hopefuls looking to make a deep run this year. Ferndale, Bellingham and Blaine should be teams to watch throughout Day 2.

Class 2A State Swimming Championships

6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21

at Federal Way

Sam Hunter and the Mariners have high aspirations for this year’s state championships. Not only could Sehome bring back some individual titles, it could very well be in line to win a team championship Saturday night at the King County Aquatic Center.
