Squalicum at Lynden boys’ basketball

Tuesday, Feb. 10

Two of the top teams in the NWC face off against each other in the final regular season game of the season. While both teams have already clinched a spot, seeding going into the district tournament is at stake. Josiah Westbrook and Sterling Somers, above, highlight this battle.

Mount Vernon Christian at Lummi boys’ basketball

7 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 10

The No. 1-ranked Lummi Blackhawks get their first playoff game Tuesday, as they face Mount Vernon Christian in the Class 1B Northwest District Championship game. Lummi has been the unanimous No. 1 team since Jan. 14. Trazil Lane, above, leads the team with 17.4 points per game.

Class 2A Northwest District Boys’ swimming Preliminaries (at Fidalgo Pool)

2:45 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 13

After two weeks off after the dual meet season, the Class 2A postseason swimming season begins. Sam Hunter, above, is part of a strong Sehome freshmen class looking to win another state title.

Class 2A Boys’ wrestling regional (at Sedro-Woolley)

TBA Saturday, Feb. 14

Coming off a Class 1A state title, Blaine, helped by Riley Fritsch, above, will look for another strong performance on its way to the Mat Classic, this time at the 2A level. Squalicum, Sedro-Woolley and Bellingham also should be contenders.

Girls’ wrestling regional (at Bellingham)

10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14

Mount Baker and Nooksack Valley will meet again, this time at the sub-regional tournament. The Mountaineers, along with Korbyn Cadle, above, have cruised through several tournaments and dual meets over the past few months and now make the final push for Mat Classic.
