Squalicum’s girls’ bowling team placed second and Sehome’s girls’ bowling team placed third in the Class 3A/2A Northwest Conference District Tournament on Friday, Jan. 30, at Tacoma.
The Storm bowled a 2,543 as a team in the tournament and the Mariners bowled a 2,283, both failed to qualify for state as a team as the district champion only qualifies for state.
Cortney Coppinger for Squalicum bowled a 491 combined for the tournament, placing fourth individually and Morgan Henry for Sehome bowled a 440 combined score to place fifth in the tournament. Qualifying both bowlers for the state tournament next week.
“It was a really good way to end the season and is nice that each team has someone going on to state,” Sehome and Squalicum coach Erin Furda said in a phone interview.
The state tournament will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Tacoma.
