Red Raiders’ Sloley wins 500 freestyle at big meet

Bellingham took two wins in a boys’ swimming meet, topping Archbishop Murphy and Mariner, on Thursday, Jan. 29, at Kamiak.

Ferndale also participated in the meet, suffering three losses. Bellingham lost to Kamiak.

Bellingham’s Martin Sloley won the 500 freestyle with a state-qualifying time of 5 minutes, 3 seconds. Brisen Pearson also qualified for state with a 22.8-second swim in the 50 freestyle.

Red Raider coach Jeff Anderson also highlighted the fact that Michael Leishman’s 100 butterfly time qualified him for districts, meaning he qualified in every event.
