Lions fall to Cubs

Lynden was handed a sweeping defeat by Sedro-Woolley’s girls’ wrestling team, 46-18, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Lynden.

Krystal Cruz’s 10-1 loss to Sedro-Woolley’s Leah Olson was still the highlight of the night for Lynden coach Santos Gallegos.

“Krystal had Leah, who is a veteran, but it was a good match,” Gallegos said in a phone interview. “The crowd got into it. It was exciting even though she lost, but it could have gone either way.”

Lynden was more positive and not intimidated by Sedro-Woolley this time out, Gallegos added.

The Lions will take part in the Jaguar Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Emerald Ridge.
