The Borderites’ Caleb Frey placed first at the 145 weight class, defeating his opponent 8-0 in the championship match. “Caleb Frey only gave up two points in four matches at the tournament, he has been dominant the last couple tournaments,” Blaine coach Craig Foster said in a phone interview.

The Lions’ Primitivo Cruz placed third at the 113 weight class by pinning his opponent in the third-place match. Payton Peterson-Scotter placed fifth and Brody Weinheimer (182) placed third with a 6-1 victory in the third-place match.

Cruz pinned his opponent in back-to-back matches en route to a third place finish, Moore said when asked what stood out for the team in the meet.

Lynden wrestles next against Sehome at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Lynden duals. Ferndale will wrestle Blaine next at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Blaine.
