Bellingham gets three pins in 60-18 win over Meridian

Bellingham’s boys’ wrestling team defeated Meridian 60-18 on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Bellingham High School.

The Red Raiders’ Ben Donnelly pinned his opponent in the 132 weight class, Riley Takemura pinned in the 138 weight class and Blair Bennett got a pin at the 195 weight class.

“All three of those guys are some of our better guys and wrestled well tonight,” Bellingham coach Tom Hinz said in a phone interview. “I thought Ben looked really sharp getting ready for postseason and Riley controlled his match well.”

Bellingham takes on Burlington-Edison in a team dual next at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Burlington-Edison High School. Meridian wrestles Nooksack Valley next at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at home.
