Squalicum’s girls’ bowling team defeated Jackson 2-1 and Sehome’s girls’ bowling lost 2-1 against Cascade on Thursday, Dec. 18, at Majestic Lanes.
The Storm lost the first game against Jackson 609-606, but won the next two games by scores of 698-671 and 683-641 to pull off an upset.
“They played the best match by far this season. Jackson is the second best team in the league, it was a huge win,” Sehome and Squalicum coach Erin Furda said in a phone interview.
Sehome bowled well in its match against Cascade, winning the second game by a score of 614-601. But were unable to come away with a victory in the 562-613 loss in the third game.
“Sehome did well, they bowled around their average,” Furda said. “Cascade just bowled better.”
Squalicum’s Courtney Coppinger bowled a 205, the high score of the match and Bobby Cowgill finished with a personal best of 154.
Sehome’s Jessica Vaught had a personal best of 143 in the match against Cascade.
Sehome bowls against Bush next on Thursday, Jan. 8, and Squalicum takes on Cascade at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Strawberry Lanes.
