Sehome’s David Leung and Zach Shenkin both scored state qualifying times in the 100 butterfly as the Mariners’ boys’ swimming team cruised past Sedro-Woolley 136-36 on Thursday, Dec. 11, at Fidalgo Pool.
Leung won the race with a time of 57.20 seconds, and Shenkin finished just three-tenths of a second slower.
“We’re pleased to have the two butterflyers qualify for state,” coach Don Helling said in a phone interview. “It was just a great way to start off the conference dual meet season.”
All three Sehome relay teams, which already qualified for state in the Northwest Conference Relays last week, also won their events.
