Blaine’s wrestling team had a strong showing from two sophomores and placed sixth in the 15-team Mariner Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Everett .
Sophomore Dereck Camba pinned a couple of his opponents before winning the 126-pound championship by a score of 13-2 and sophomore Riley Fritsch won the 145-pound title by a 10-1 major decision in the finals.
Caleb Frey had three pins in his journey to the finals, but came up short after being pinned by his opponent in the championship.
Gage Lott and Billy Dodd both placed third in the 132- and 138-pound weight class, respectively.

“I’m excited for all the guys, especially the two champions,” Blaine coach Craig Foster said. “We have a lot of work to do because we’re much younger than last year, but we’ll keep pushing it.”
Blaine’s next match will be against Mount Baker at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Mount Baker.
