BOYS’ SWIMMING PREVIEW: 5 swimmers to watch

ISAIAH GRAMBO

School: Sehome

Year: Senior

Finished fourth in the 100 butterfly at the Class 2A State Boys’ Swimming Championships with a time of 53.91 seconds. He also finished seventh in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.45 at the state meet. Part of the Mariners’ 1-2 punch in sprints with Josh Larson.

BRISEN PEARSON

School: Bellingham

Year: Sophomore

In his freshman season, he finished 16th in the 100 butterfly at the Class 2A State Boys’ Swimming Championships with a time of 59.82 seconds. He also swam legs in Bellingham’s 12th-place 200 medley relay and ninth-place 200 freestyle relay teams.

KEAN ROUSE

School: Blaine

Year: Junior

The lone swimmer from Blaine to compete in the state championships last year. Finished 15th in the 200 individual medley at state with a time of 2 minutes, 12.65 seconds. Placed fifth in the 200 IM at bi-district. Will compete with Squalicum during dual-meet season this year.

WILSON DIERDORFF

School: Squalicum

Year: Sophomore

Placed ninth at state with a finals diving total of 293.65 points. Finished fifth at bi-district with a 296.40. Earned all-conference recognition while helping Squalicum to a 5-1 dual-meet record and a seventh-place state finish. One of two sophomore divers for the Storm going into 2014-15.

MICHAEL JOHNSON

School: Lynden

Year: Junior

Swam the 100 backstroke in 59.71 seconds at the state championships, earning him a 12th-place finish. He was the top placer in the 100 backstroke from Whatcom County and was Lynden’s lone competitor at state. He earned all-conference honors.
