Coach: Randy Elsner
Last year: Finsihed 5-1 in Northwest Conference dual meets. Finished second in the NWC after losing to Sehome 93-92. Finished seventh at Class 2A State Championships.
Swimmers to watch: Rowan King (so., breaststroke, IM), Matt Lovell (jr., backstroke, butterfly), Jonathan Hegeberg (jr., breastroke, freestyle), Franz Allendorfer (fr., backstroke, butterfly), Griffin Korby (so., diving), Wilson Dierdorff (so., diving).
Outlook: After a seventh-place finish at state last year, the Storm come into the 2014-15 season with no seniors. The loss of a “lot of great leaders” is something the Storm will have to adjust to, coach Randy Elsner said in a phone interview. Instead of a senior class to count on to lead, Elsner is turning to juniors Lovell and Hegeberg along with sophomore King. “I’m truly looking for these guys to step up and take leadership, so I don’t have to do every little thing,” Elsner said. Last year, the Squalicum mantra was “compete.” This year, it’s changed to “evolve.” Blaine’s Kean Rouse will also swim with Squalicum this year.
