Coach: Jeff Anderson
Last year: Went 2-3 in dual meet Northwest Conference play. Finished sixth at bi-districts. Finished 15th at Class 2A State Championships.
Swimmers to watch: Martin Sloley (jr., freestyle), Logan Dozal (sr., IM, freestyle, backstroke), Christian Buhler (sr., freestyle, IM), Michael Leishmann (sr., IM, freestyle), Eli Ninnemann (sr., breaststroke), Grant Hildreth (jr., freestyle).
Outlook: The Red Raiders return six swimmers that went to state last year, and of the group of 16 swimmers and four divers, Anderson believes he might have 12 who are good enough to go to state this season. Along with the state swimmers, Hildreth, Shea Mielke and up-and-comer Dalton Hanks also will add to what should be one of the deeper groups Bellingham has had in recent years. Divers include Andrew Twedt, Koa Hanks and Brennan Drew. “All three have acrobatic abilities, a trait necessary in top-notch diving,” Anderson wrote in an email. “I’m anxious to see how their season progresses.” Ferndale’s five swimmers will be competing in dual meets and practicing with Bellingham.
