Sehome had a hard time getting in rhythm, but still earned a 23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-19 win over Squalicum on Thursday, Oct. 23, at Squalicum.
The Mariners were led by Emma Greer’s 18 kills. Dani Johnson added nine kills, and Kayla Thurman had eight more.
“We had a hard time putting together anything,” Sehome coach Kristy White said in a phone interview. “We had a hard time passing and had too many unforced errors. We came off a good win against LC and had a hard time taking care of the ball.”
Squalicum was led by Katie Alvord’s 12 kills and Hannah Loy’s 23 digs.
“I thought we played really well,” Squalicum coach Laurie Quigley said in a phone interview. “Sehome is good and we hung with them pretty well for the first and fourth games especially. I liked what we did tonight. We played really hard and showed a lot of heart.”
Sehome also had 34 assists from Megan Greer and 31 digs by Natalie Knops.
Sehome takes on Bellingham on Monday, Oct. 27, at home, while Squalicum travels to Nooksack Valley the same day.
