The Lynden Christian volleyball team scored a three-set win over Blaine during a Northwest Conference match Thursday, Oct. 16, at Lynden Christian.
Coach Kim Grycel said the contest was an emotional one. Not only was it senior night, but the Lyncs also were honoring a players’ dad who was recovering from spinal cancer.
Madison Weg led the Lyncs with 11 kills and 10 digs, as LC won 25-14, 25-12, 25-23. Kara Bajema contributed 10 kills, Carli Tjoelker recorded 21 assists and Emily Veening made 21 digs.
“It was an emotional night for them, but they were able to start strong,” Grycel said in a phone interview. “Blaine played very good defense in the third game.”

Makayla Deming led the Borderites with five kills and 13 digs, and Elle Moore had three kills and six digs.
Lynden Christian (11-0, 9-0 NWC) travels to play undefeated Sehome next at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21. Blaine (4-6, 2-6 NWC) hosts Anacortes next at the same time and date.
