Shelby DeWaard won two races and was part of two winning relay teams to lead Lynden’s girls’ swimming team to a 110-56 win over Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.
DeWaard swam a 2:19.31 to win the 200 freestyle and a 1:03.89 to win the 100 freestyle, while helping the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relays to victories.
“Shelby had a really solid meet,” Lynden coach Linda Bode said in a phone interview. “The girls are doing well swimming tired, and they’re getting their times down. We’re trying to get more people in districts and get our relay teams down.”
Also picking up wins for Lynden were Damara Gerbrandt (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) and Ellie Steensma (500 freestyle).
Lynden is back at Fidalgo Pool on Thursday, Oct. 23, for a meet against Burlington-Edison.
