Lynden’s volleyball team knew they didn’t have an easy task against Anacortes on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Lynden High School. But the Lions rallied the troops to win 27-25, 23-25, 21-25, 25-14, 15-12.
Lauren Rattie led the team with 13 kills, Kaityln Mark had 37 assists and 12 digs, while Taryn Frey recorded nine kills, three blocks and four aces.
“We were looking forward to this one,” Lynden (5-4, 5-2 NWC) coach Julie Clift said in a phone interview. “We came out fairly strong in the first set before we struggled in the second and third. It was great to see us come in fourth with a lot of intensity.”
It was the first five-set match for the Lions this season and it was a confidence-builder to win it, Clift said.
Lynden plays Bellingham on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Bellingham High School.
