Sehome’s girls’ swim team swept all the events on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Fidalgo Pool. Led by Sophie Grambo’s standout performances in the 50 free and 100 fly, the Mariners topped Burlington-Edison 138-31.
“She stood in for our normal 100 butterflyer, who happened to be sick, and did a fine job,” Sehome coach Don Helling said in a phone interview. “It was tough having a late-night meet when we’re not used to it. It threw us off just a little bit.”
Alia Malella dropped a tenth of a second in the 500 freestyle, bettering her state qualifying time.
Sehome faces Anacortes in a non-conference meet on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Fidalgo Pool before facing Anacortes and Squalicum next week in two contests likely to decide the Northwest Conference title.
