Bellingham volleyball battled to a 3-2 Northwest Conference loss against Burlington-Edison in a back-and-forth affair Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Bellingham.
Sophia Lawerence had a school-record 42 digs, wiping out the previous record of 34. Summer Douglas had 12 kills, Olivia Bjorklund had three aces and Cassidy Fulton had 27 assists.
“I’m super happy with their performance,” Bellingham coach Kim Bjorklund said in a phone interview. “Burlington has been good for a long time, and had the match been tomorrow it might have gone the other way. Now we know we can do it. They played together tonight, committed to good defense, and when we took the game into our hands and fought back. We played together as a whole.”
Bellingham will look to get back on the winning track on Thursday, Oct. 9, at home against Anacortes.
