Trojans fall to Anacortes in straight sets

The Meridian volleyball team fell to Anacortes in straight sets, 25-13, 25-8, 25-14 on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Anacortes High School in a Northwest Conference matchup.

“We came out with good energy to start the game, had a good lead, but we started not passing the ball well,” Meridian coach Shannon Claeys said in a phone interview. “We struggled with our passing and our serving. ... They were able to get good swings on the ball.”

Claire Burkett led the Trojans with five kills, and Ellie Dennis had eight digs.

Meridian hosts Sehome on Thursday, Oct. 9.
