Sehome finished off Squalicum 5-2 in a boys’ tennis match Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Squalicum High School, that was postponed earlier in the season due to inclement weather.
The Mariners swept the singles matches in spite of a close No. 4 battle between Sehome’s Darren Ma and Squalicum’s Jared Rapp. Ma won the match in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.
“I was impressed with Jared’s effort,” Storm coach Joe O’Brien said in a phone interview. “He played a good, long three set-match, and it was exciting to watch it unfold.”
Squalicum No. 1 doubles Kevin Smiley and Drew Segren and No. 3 doubles Liam Browlie and Carter Nickelson each won their matches. Both went three sets.
The Storm travel to play Sedro-Woolley next at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Sedro-Woolley.
