Cassidy Fulton started her volleyball career at Bellingham in record-breaking fashion, recording 52 assists and leading the Red Raiders to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Blaine on Thursday, Oct. 2, in a Northwest Conference matchup.
Bellingham found itself in a tough position losing the first two sets 25-18, 26-24, but rebounded to take the next three 25-13, 25-23, 15-8.
“We started slow and took Blaine for granted,” Bellingham coach Kim Bjorklund said in a phone interview. “Blaine had a great night. They have really improved. ... They had to come back and they did.”
Sophia Lawrence added 25 digs, and Summer Douglas had 16 kills for the Red Raiders.

Blaine was led by Mikayla Deming’s six blocks and nine kills. Elle Moore added 15 digs and eight kills, as well, for the Borderites.
“(Blaine) played excellent,” Blaine coach Bryan Clausen said in a phone interview. “Just showing how much we have improved over the last year and a month. They are gaining confidence every week.”
Bellingham (5-2, NWC 3-2) hosts Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Blaine (4-3, 2-3) travels to Mount Baker on Thursday, Oct. 9.
