Mounties push Burlington-Edison to the limit

Mount Baker’s vollyeball team took a three-set loss, but kept it close against 2A power Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Oct. 2, at Mount Baker in a Northwest Conference matchup.

Sixteen assists form Emily Yost, 17 digs by Sarah Verry, and Tanya Kashubin’s 14 digs kept the Mountaineers close in the 28-26, 25-19, 26-24 loss.

“Tanya Kashubin played really well all around. She had quite a few digs and kills,” Mount Baker coach Paige Huttula said in a phone interview. “We came from behind in every game, and you can tell they were really close. I think they got a taste of what it felt like to compete altogether.”

Mount Baker has another tough test when it faces Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 7, on the road.
