Sehome’s volleyball team minimized errors and earned a 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 win over Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Oct. 2, at Nooksack Valley in a Northwest Conference matchup.
Dani Johnson led the Mariners with 13 kills and an ace, and Madison MacPhee added six kills. Natalie Knops also had 18 digs. Sehome got a three-set win because it took care of the ball on its own side of the net, Sehome coach Kristy White said in a phone interview.
Olivia Berkan led the Pioneers with eight kills, Avery Tenkley added seven and Lily McCaffery had five.
“It was close early on because our defense was so scrappy,” Nooksack Valley coach Katie Emmons said in a phone interview. “I was really impressed with our blocking and defense. We didn’t have a lot of blocks, but our blocking was disciplined for most of the match.”
Sehome hosts Sedro-Woolley and Nooksack Valley travels to Lynden in Northwest Conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
