Le shines in win for Storm

The Squalicum girls’ swimming team won all 12 events en route to a 138-30 Northwest Conference victory over Ferndale on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

Yani Le was dominant in the win, swimming legs in the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams while also winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 8.6 seconds, and the 100 breaststroke with a 1:09.84.

“It was impressive because she did it back-to-back-to-back,” Storm coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. “Shows her conditioning is really in top rate, top form.”

Serena Allendorfer earned a state-qualifying time in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.11. She also swam legs in the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Squalicum (3-0, NWC 3-0) will travel to face Lynden on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Ferndale (0-4, 0-4) hosts Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Oct. 9.
