Oswin leads Storm to close win

Nooksack Valley girls’ cross country’s Amy Jo Murphy took home first place at the Pioneers’ home Northwest Conference meet on Wednesday, Oct. 1, but Squalicum took first as a team.

The Storm finished with 34 points, just edging Burlington-Edison, which had 36. Nooksack Valley had 59.

Murphy’s time of 16 minutes, 8.62 seconds on the 4k course was almost 20 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Squalicum’s Grace Oswin was third in 16:40.10.

Abby Koenig was the Storm’s second runner in 16:47.31, with Sophia Regimbal (17:18.29), Hailey Linville (18:05.63) and Sydney Arndorfer (18:33.11) behind her. Tara Knight (18:53.69) and Jordan Sims (18:57.39).

Jessica Jose was second for the Pioneers in 18:07.22, followed by Pearl Morris (18:11.49), Annika Rauch (19:00.98) and Anne Schoenell (19:18.32). Maria Cazares (20:03.01) and Alyce Harlan (20:22.13) were Nooksack Valley’s sixth and seventh runners.
