Ball’s win not enough for LC

Lynden Christian’s cross country team’s Sarah Ball topped Blaine’s Hillary Kiele by one second to win individual honors, but it wasn’t enough as Lynden Christian fell to Anacortes on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Anacortes High School.

LC finished just four points behind Anacortes, scoring a 39 to the Seahawks’ 35. Bellingham came in with a 46 and Blaine didn’t have enough runners for a team score.

Ball was followed by Taylor Ten Pas, McKenzie Young, Brianna Bruneau and Brandy Bruneau for the Lynden Christian side.

Blaine’s Hillary Kiele was the only top-10 finisher for the Borderites, but Sophia Dwyer, Hannah Kean and Navkiran Gill also ran for the Borderites.

Bellingham’s Quincy Gale led the Red Raiders’ squad, followed by Leah Veldhuisen, Julia Latimer, Makayla Stahl and Zoe Thompson.
