Sehome, LC ranked No. 2 in their respective volleyball polls

For the second consecutive week, the Sehome volleyball team is ranked No. 2 in the Class 2A state poll, as voted on by the coaches.

The Mariners are fresh off a defining win for the program, defeating Burlington-Edison 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 23. Sehome failed to register a win against its conference rivals for the better part of seven years until early last week.

Burlington-Edison fell from No. 4 to No. 5 following the loss.

Lynden also fell in the 2A rankings to No. 6, down from No. 5, following a win against Blaine and a straight-set loss to the No. 2-ranked 1A team, Lynden Christian.

The Lyncs, who remain undefeated entering play Tuesday, Sept. 30, come in second in the first 1A poll, behind Freeman.

Ferndale remains ranked No. 7 in the 3A poll for the second consecutive week. The Golden Eagles are coming off a strong five-set win over Bellingham on Thursday, Sept. 25.
