Meggison not enough for Meridian

Meridian’s girls’ cross country team put up a strong fight but Sedro-Woolley took the team win on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Meridian High School.

Trojans’ Mimi Meggison won the 4,000-meter race in 15 minutes, 33 seconds. Dena Andrushenko finished third for the Trojans with a 16:23. Meridian only finished three points behind Sedro-Woolley.

Nooksack Valley took third with 67 points, as Amy Murphy’s 16:45 led the charge.

Blaine’s Hillary Kiele put up a fifth-place finish but Blaine didn’t have enough runners to qualify for a team score.
